Caregivers of medically complex children face increased social isolation, limited community and emotional support, and profound unmet psychosocial needs.

Nearly half receive little to no help from family or friends.

Our Mission

Because caregivers with stronger support systems are better equipped to navigate caring for a medically complex child, we create opportunities for Aicardi Syndrome families to connect with one another and their communities, so no one has to walk this journey alone.

Awty

The Awty Fund is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization established in memory of Awsten “Awty” Galvan, who passed away from complications of Aicardi Syndrome on July 21, 2026, at age seven.
The Awty Fund is led by an all-volunteer board of nonprofit professionals, Aicardi Syndrome family members, and medical professionals who bring expertise, lived experience, and a shared commitment to one goal: ensuring no family walks this journey alone.

How we help

Your support helps Aicardi families find connection, community, and the resources they need through every season of their journey. Together, we can make sure every family has somewhere to turn.
